I took this photo with the lillies and wood jetty in the foreground to lead the viewer across the lake towards Kylemore. The contrast and dark blue of the water was enhanced in post production, bringing up the colours and quality of the water that was already present in the photo. I photographed this scene in Doolin yesterday evening with the Aran Islands in the background, the light opened up briefly in the distance over the Aran Islands and silhouetting the castle. Within 10-15 minutes there were 5-6 enthusiastic local budding photographers gathered around also who had rushed up the hill at speed in their cars from Doolin village. Soon after this amazing sunset light vanished, for another evening.
I took a trip out to the Burren in July and the route I took was through the port village of Kinvara and onto Ballyvaughan and Fanore. Of course I had been out this way on more than one occasion previously. The weather that day was intermittent between showers and sunshine, ideal for some dramatic lighting and colours.
