The G Hotel Interior

A recent picture taken of the G Hotel in Galway. The shot was taken with the Tamron 15-30mm wide angle lens. Post production enhanced the lighting. Colour grading was also applied to this image to bring up the interior. For the digital version this image was post produced specifically with sharpening, curves and other photo editing techniques. The software used was Lightroom and Photoshop. These days having great images is certainly important for businesses in Ireland. Hotels, guest houses and […]

Poulnabrone Dolmen Burren

Poulnabrone is an ancient dolmen in the Burren in Co.Clare. It can be a challenging shot to take but I am always up for a challenge. The first thing with photographing the dolmen is getting the vertical and horizontals checked out for the optimal view point. When actually there the dolmen has standing steel poles with rope going through and so this makes getting the right view a struggle. Overall the shot looks great with a certain light and feel […]

Kylemore Abbey Connemara Galway

I took this photo with the lillies and wood jetty in the foreground to lead the viewer across the lake towards Kylemore. Sunset Over Doolin Co. Clare

I photographed this scene in Doolin yesterday evening with the Aran Islands in the background, the light opened up briefly in the distance over the Aran Islands and silhouetting the castle. Within 10-15 minutes there were 5-6 enthusiastic local budding photographers gathered around also who had rushed up the hill at speed in their cars from Doolin village. Soon after this amazing sunset light vanished, for another evening.

Trip To The Magical Burren

I took a trip out to the Burren in July and the route I took was through the port village of Kinvara and onto Ballyvaughan and Fanore. Of course I had been out this way on more than one occasion previously. ┬áThe weather that day was intermittent between showers and sunshine, ideal for some dramatic lighting and colours. I am writing more soon here … The Burren (Irish: Boireann, meaning “great rock”) is a karst landscape in County Clare, Ireland. […]
